Music by the Sea Concerts (Wednesdays)

Been missing live music? You’re not alone. If you’d like to once again enjoy some excellent artists taking the stage, head to St. John’s County Ocean Pier every Wednesday throughout the summer. Fantastic rock, pop, soul, and jazz acts will perform free concerts all season long. And thanks to fantastic on-site eats from some of the area’s best local food trucks, refreshment is always close at hand. Special food pricing is in effect too, with meals offered at $10 or less.

Lightner Museum — American Impressionism Exhibit (through July 5)

The always-fascinating Lightner Museum will present the special exhibit “American Impressionism: Treasures from the Daywood Collection” until July 5. This stunning showcase will feature more than 40 paintings on loan from West Virginia’s Huntington Museum of Art. These paintings capture the incredible beauty of the American impressionist movement, which abandoned conventional structure in favor of translating emotion directly to canvas.

Dark of the Moon Tour at St. Augustine Lighthouse (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays)

The St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum — widely known to be one of the most haunted spots in the country — will be hosting spooky summer ghost tours on weekend evenings throughout the summer. Your tour guide will take you and your group on a creepy trek through the facility and share true tales from the storied history of this chilling place. Admission is just $25 ($20 for kids 12 and under) and helps support maritime research at the museum.

First Friday Art Walk (July 2, August 6, September 3)

The first Friday of every month in St. Augustine means one thing: First Friday Art Walks. The city’s most popular cultural event sees almost 30 art galleries in St. Augustine hold simultaneous open houses, allowing art lovers of all varieties to stroll at their leisure and take in truly beautiful works. The artists themselves are often on hand to meet, greet, and answer questions, and refreshments and live entertainment always dot the route for walkers to enjoy.

ShepardFest — Honoring Playwright Sam Shepard (August 13-15)

The late Sam Shepard was widely viewed as one of America’s greatest playwrights. In his storied career, he wrote more than 40 contemporary American works for the stage and won multiple prestigious awards for his efforts. Flagler College’s Lewis Auditorium will host this fantastic festival featuring live performances of some of Shepard’s best-known works, including “The Late Henry Moss” and “Cowboy Mouth.” Speakers and films will also be offered.

Amphitheatre Farmers Market (Saturdays)

There’s just nothing like a fantastic farmers market. The produce is always fresh, the people are friendly, and you know you’re getting a fair price for as much as you can carry. Plus, they’re a great way to directly support local growers. Every Saturday, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre is the site of one of the best in the state. Visitors can expect to discover produce, handmade arts and crafts, baked goods, freshly caught seafood, cheese, and more.
