The St. Augustine Amphitheatre welcomes the return of The Avett Brothers on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.. The group last performed in St. Augustine in October of 2017.

The Avett Brothers includes brothers, Scott (banjo/vocals) and Seth (guitar) Avett, Bob Crawford (double bass), and Joe Kwon (cello). Combining many genres in their music, including bluegrass, country, punk, pop melodies, rock and roll, ragtime and honky-tonk, The Avett Brothers have built up a strong fan base and won significant critical acclaim over the 17 years of their career. With their most recent album, True Sadness, The Avett Brothers return to mainstream rootsiness.

The Avett Brothers released the album Emotionalism in 2007, which debuted at the top of the Billboard Top Heatseekers Albums chart, and they went on to win the Americana Music Association Duo/Group of the Year and New/Emerging Artist of the Year awards that year.

Rolling Stone Magazine named the band the “Artist to Watch” in 2009. Also that year, their hit single “I and Love and You” debuted and peaked at #16 on the Billboard Top 200. In 2012, they reached #4 on the Billboard Top 200 with “The Carpenter.” They have appeared several times on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and The Late Show with David Letterman. They also joined Chris Cornell for a memorable Pearl Jam tribute on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and, in 2015, supported The Rolling Stones on their “Zip Code Tour” in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The last year has been an important one for The Avett Brothers, as they released their critically acclaimed documentary, “May It Last: A Portrait of The Avett Brothers,” which was directed by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio. The film was released theatrically and debuted on HBO in January of 2018.
