Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Breakfast and Remembrance March

Monday, January 21, 2019 January 21, 2019 St. George Inn

Greeting from the Committee to celebrate the National Holiday honoring the Rev Dr Martin Lutrher King, Jr.

This year we have decided on a local theme for our weekend of events taken from a speach Dr King gave at the march on Washington, viz., "Out of a Mountain of Despair, a Stone of Hope". The Committee decided that troubling times call for an inner strength in order to hold out for a better world for all. Sound mental health is very important to sustaining our hope for a better future. Our speaker for the breakfast will be Dr Chester L Wilson, Jr who has spoken regionally on issues of mental health in our community and conducted workshops on the subject. We will offer a delicious buffet breakfast by Battles Catering of Jacksonville, FL, inspirational song from recording artist Zaneta Whipple and more.

Historically, this event was the inaugural event for the State of Florida to kick off of the celebration for the National Holiday for Dr King in 1986, and has been celebrated each year since that time.

Come out and help us continue to celebrate the 2019 National Holiday honoring the Rev Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. and help make it a day on and not just a day off.
